Kokrajhar: The National Democratic Front of Boroland (Progressive), which is in a peace process with the Government of India since 2005 to resolve the long-standing Boroland demand through peaceful dialogue, has made it clear that the outfit will directly support UPPL candidates - UG Brahma in Kokrajhar and Pradip Kr. Daimary in Mangaldai HPC.

In a statement, the publicity secretary of the NDFB (P) S. Sanjarang said, “Keeping in mind that Boroland is a political problem as it has to be resolved politically, the NDFB (Progressive) has therefore, extended directly its support to the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) candidates for the 5th Kokrajhar (ST) and 8th Mangoldoi Parliamentary seats in the forthcoming Indian General Election, 2019 through the means of democracy on the grounds that the issue of Boroland can be raised in the most high platform of India.”

Sanjarang said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was in power in the Centre for the last five years, though assured to resolve the Boroland problem, did nothing to resolve the long-standing Boroland problem due to lack of political willingness and hindrances from their ally in the State Government, particularly the BPF headed by Hagrama Mohilary.

The Bodoland movement group, viz, the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM), the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), the National Democratic Front of Boroland (Progressive) and the National Democratic Front of Boroland (RD), had several rounds of dialogue with the Union Home Minister of India and at the bureaucratic level, he said, adding that the political leaders and think-tanks of India who could understand the strategic problem of the Boro people had acknowledged the fact that the Boro people had every right to have a State of their own but Hagrama Mohilary, the chief of BTC, who once devoted himself for Statehood, had now turned into the fifth columnist to keep himself safe from getting arrested for non-presentation of the ‘utilization certificate’ of the CAG Report and to please his masters who were working behind the scene.

The publicity secretary said, “We condemn the unconstitutional speech of Hagrama Mohilary, the chief of BTC, in many of his campaigns for the parliamentary election, 2019 targeting mostly the leadership of ABSU and NDFB (P).”

He said that the people of Boroland, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, were extending their support due to good vision, truth, simplicity, good principles and ideology of the leadership of the ABSU and NDFB (P).
