KOKRAJHAR: The National Institute of Bodology (NIB) organized a two-day workshop on various research projects undertaken by the institute recently. The NIB is a research-based institute which was founded in 2003 by some Bodo visionaries and intellectuals.

The institute is situated at Sudempuri, Kokrajhar, BTR, Assam. The aims of the NIB are to carry out research-oriented work and projects which will help the Bodos to identify their own strengths and weaknesses apart from exploring new grounds and possibilities.

The inaugural session of the workshop, which was chaired by Dr. Adaram Basumatary, was inaugurated by Dr. Subung Basumatary, Registrar of Bodoland University and chairperson of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Trust.

The topics discussed in the workshop were 'A multilingual dictionary of Bodo-Dimasa-Kokborok-English, Bodo and Dimasa heritage digital archive',' Linguistic documentation of Bodo language', 'Bodo mother tongue based multilingual education: A model for quality education', 'Literary translations in Bodo, A preliminary study on the livelihood of the Meches in Nepal and the Bodos in BTR', among others.

In the workshop, an English poetry book titled The Rape written by Dr. Sunil Phukan Basumatary was released on the first day and on the second day a souvenir of Bodoland Senior Citizens' Forum titled Sampriti was released by Prafulla Hazoari, retired ACS, and an invited guest of the workshop, Dr. Sudhir Saxena from Bhopal.
