BISWANATH CHARIALI: As a part of celebration of the golden jubilee year of establishment of Assam Nepali Sahitya Sabha (ANSS), a pioneer literary body of the state, a national seminar on creative writing was held in the conference hall of Biswanath College on Sunday.
The inaugural session began with illumination of ceremonial lamp by Dr Narayan Chandra Upadhyaya followed inaugural speech forwarded with Dr Chinta Mani Sharma, working president of ANSS in the chair. Dr Kabita Lama, Head of the Department of Nepali and former Dean, School of languages and literature, Sikkim University graced the first technical session as a resource person and delivered a comprehensive lecture on ‘creative writing’ with Dr Khemraj Nepal in the chair.
Dr Dewchandra Subba, assistant professor of the Department of Languages and Literature, Sikkim University, attended the second technical session as a resource person on the topic ‘Correct Writing and importance of studying in vernacular language’, which was chaired by Hem Kumar Gautam. Dr Sanjib Upadhyaya and Bishnu Devi attended the first session as rapporteurs while Dr Tilak Sarmah and Anjan Baskota attended the second session as rapporteurs.
The day-long national seminar organized by ANSS in collaboration with the Nepali department of Biswanath College and the Biswanath district committee of ANSS, was attended by scholars, academicians and dignitaries. Madan Thapa, chief secretary of ANSS, conducted the proceedings of the inaugural session while Ram Prasad Dahal, secretary of Biswanath district ANSS offered vote of thanks.
