DHUBRI: A national seminar on ‘Women and Child Trafficking’, chaired by the president of Dhubri Law College managing committee, Nripendra Nath Das, was held in the auditorium of the new building of Dhubri Law College on Saturday.

Roy and Principal of Tura Law College, Debajyoti Barua, while speaking on the subject, expressed deep concern at the growing incidents of women and child trafficking across the country.

“Women and child trafficking is unthinkable in a civil society but fact remains that it happens across the country despite some stringent laws against it,” the speakers said.

Speakers also opined that only enacting laws against trafficking would not be enough, civil society groups should also come forward to create awareness among the people and put forwarded solutions on women and child trafficking in India. Academic Coordinator of Dhubri Law College, Taufikul Islam, while referring to the Act under section 357A of the CrPC, informed that by this Act a victim of trafficking might claim compensation for a rehabilitation programme.
