TINSUKIA: A 7-day special (National Service Scheme) NSS camp organised by NSS Units of Women's College, Tinsukia concluded on Thursday at Itakhuli block. Out of 45 volunteers, 24 were stationed at Itakhuli block and the rest were non-residential. They organised a number of programmes for the villagers like legal awareness programme in association with DLSA, Tinsukia, Vermi compost processing, survey of the village, mental health awareness for school children, plantation and activities in two schools. The camp was inaugurated by Dr, Rajib Bordoloi, Principal of Women's College, Tinsukia on March 25 and the purpose of the camp was explained by Dr. Tanusree Sarker, programme officer of NSS Unit.

The volunteers conducted quiz, speech competition, drawing competition among the students of Bapuji Hindi M.E. School and Mahakali Grant High School and also took classes. They found that the level of knowledge in Maths, English and G.K. is not up to the mark. Hence the NSS Unit in consultation with Headmistress of the schools and the principal of the college decided to conduct academic support to the children as a follow up programme of the camp. The volunteers also expressed their experience of staying in the village and conducting survey in three villages namely, Monkhushi, Borjan and Monkhuli.
