KOKRAJHAR: A five-day national workshop on Intellectual Property Right (IPR) was organized jointly by Kokrajhar Law College and RKB Law College, Dibrugarh.

In a statement, the Principal of Kokrajhar Law College, Preeta Brahma said, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the globe, academic institutions have been affected badly." She said that different means had been taken up to impart education. Online workshops and webinars were being organized.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cells (IQAC) of Dr. RKB Law College, Dibrugarh and Kokrajhar Law College, Kokrajhar successfully organized the five-day national workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from July 8 to July 12. Many renowned jurists, professors, advocates, scholars and faculties from across the country joined this five-day workshop. There were total 116 participants from various parts of the country. The workshop came to an end on Sunday with a valedictory speech from Dr. Gautomi Dutta Borah, Principal, Dr. RKB Law College, and chairperson of the workshop.

This workshop was jointly organized by the IQACs of Dr. RKB Law College and Kokrajhar Law College. The workshop started on July 8 with a welcome address by Preeta Brahma, Principal i/c, Kokrajhar Law College, and Prof. (Dr.) R.C. Borpatragohain, Advocate General, Government of Assam was the invited chief guest. He delivered the inaugural speech where he stated the importance of IPR as a subject matter and the need to enact/amend the Indian IPR Laws in uniformity with the international conventions like TRIPS and WIPO.

The invited speaker was Prof. (Dr.) Mohan R. Bolla, Principal, Kristu Jayanti College of Law, Bangalore, who delivered speech on the topic 'Concept of IPR and Judicial Trends: A Perspective'. Prof. Bolla added that intellectuals solved problems and the need to protect the idea of the mental exercise in order to disseminate into a property was intellectual property.
