Nepal’s Bodo Meche Delegation Meets Ex-MP SK Bwiswmuthiary Ahead of 64th BSS Session

A 36-member Nepal Bodo Meche delegation, led by MSSA president Rupesh Meche, met ex-MP SK Bwiswmuthiary at his Kokrajhar residence to strengthen ties.

KOKRAJHAR: A delegation of Nepal’s Bodo Meche people comprising 36 members led by the president of Meche Somaj Sibiyari Afat (MSSA) Rupesh Meche called on ex Lok Sabha MP SK Bwiswmuthiary at his Khantalguri residence near Kokrajhar on Thursday evening as a courtesy meet to build up close relationship. The big Meche delegation all way from Dhaijan, Zhapa district of Nepal were on way to participate in the 64th Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) session that got underway from Thursday at Mainao Fwthar, Dimakuchi in Udalguri district.

The members of Meche Somaj Sibiyari Afat greeted and hugged ex MP Bwiswmuthiary ahead of Domachi/Magh Bihu. Bwiswmuthiary warmly welcomed the guests from Nepal with traditional Aronai at his residence and wished them peace and prosperity in this New Year along with strengthening the bond of unity and solidarity of Bodo-Meche people of Assam and Nepal. They sat together and had traditional Bodo eateries of Domachi- Pitha and Sithao before leaving for Dimakuchi.

A brief exchange of discussion was also held with the guests. Bwiswmuthiary, who is also the president of the World Confideration of Mongoloid People emphasized on upholding unity and solidarity among the Bodo and Meche people. He said Meche was just name of identity of Bodo people in Nepal but they are still embracing Bathouism deeply, keeping traditional Dokhona and Bodo language. He also said Bodos were called Mech in West Bengal, Boro and Kachari in Assam and Borok in Tripura but they are from the same root and race. He called upon all to take people to people contact for unity and solidarity besides extending support on each other’s crisis.

The president of Meche Somaj Sibiyari Afat Rupesh Meche also said there had been long communication gap between the Bodos of Bodoland-Assam, West Bengal and Nepal but nowadays they are like living in a same region as they have achieved re-establishing a close relationship between each other. He said they will live with pride with Meche-Bodo identity, culture and religion in Nepal. He also said they were inspired with the Bodos of Bodoland which is the nerve centre to bring back all Bodo group of people to a fold for greater race.
