Guwahati: The Network of Women in Media, India (NWMI) is holding its 19th National Meet 2025 at the Don Bosco Institute of Management, Guwahati, from January 31 to February 2, 2025, offering a platform for networking, workshops, and discussions on pivotal issues in media. NWMI is an autonomous nationwide body of women media professionals working for the print, online and broadcast media. Set up in 2002, it aims to provide a forum for women in media-related professions to share information and resources, exchange ideas, promote media ethics, to work towards gender equality and justice in media and society. This conference is expected to be an excellent opportunity for media professionals to connect, learn, and contribute to the growing discourse around women in media. The event will feature sessions covering issues pertaining to reporting, women shaping cinema, navigating mental health and wellbeing in journalism, regional media and the digital age, etc. This year as many as 200 women journalists from across the country would be attending the meet.
A public meeting, which is open to all, will be held at NEDFi House on February 1, from 3.30 to 6 pm. The theme of the public meeting will be ‘Media: Conflict and Climate Change-Impact on Women’. The speakers for the public meeting are Sanjoy Hazarika (author-journalist); Monisha Behal (women’s development activist); Kamal Kumar Tanti (academic, climate researcher); and Tongam Rina (journalist). The session will be moderated by Durba Ghosh (journalist and Bureau Chief, PTI).
