New committee of Sibsagar Press Club takes charge

SIVASAGAR: The new committee of Sibsagar Press Club took charge on Wednesday evening with Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta, Principal of Gargaon College and senior columnist, taking over as president and Khalilur Rahman Hazarika, senior journalist, as general secretary.

The annual general meeting was held on March 7. The other office-bearers include Pabitra Borthakur, Dr Utpal Dutta and Atanu Borah (vice-presidents), Pawan Agarwalla (treasurer), Joyjyoti Gogoi, Muktab Hussain, Mofidul Islam and Himangshu Neog (assistant general secretaries). On the other hand, Mujahid Ali will look after media archive, Manirul Islam Bora has given the responsibility of cultural department, while Najiullah Hazarika has been given the charge of library. The chief advisor to the Sibsagar Press Club is Jyoti Prasad Chaliha and advisors are Dr Saumarjyoti Mahanta and Inamul Hazarika. The executive committee members elected are Sanjib Dey, Khairuddin Ahmed, Sanjay Pareek and Mustaqur Rahman.
