NAGAON: The newly-constructed main gateway of the historic Dhing College, a pioneering educational institution in the district established in 1965 and celebrating its Diamond Jubilee year, was inaugurated by Keshab Mahanta, Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, Government of Assam on Saturday.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rupak Sarmah, MLA of Nagaon-Batadroba Assembly constituency, Devashish Sarma, District Commissioner, Gautam Bora, former Minister, Dr Biman Hazarika, Principal of Dhing College, Dr Mriganka Saikia, Principal of Gopinath Dev Goswami Commerce College, and Sourav Das, Dhing Circle Officer, along with other dignitaries, college authorities, and students.
Additionally, the District Commissioner participated in a painting exhibition and a pearl exhibition organized by the Assam Pearl Development Cooperative Society Ltd at Dhing College, coinciding with the inauguration ceremony.
During the trip to the event, Revenue Minister Keshab Mahanta gave a verbal order to the official concerned of Dhing Revenue Circle to start the procedure of converting the college land, covering over 75 bighas, into Myadi, a permanent land settlement, for the greater interest of the college as early as possible.
