DIGBOI: Uttam Prakash on Thursday formally took over as Divisional Railway Manager Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Tinsukia to head the administrative affairs of the Railway Department. Prakash, an IIT Kanpur alumni, was serving in the capacity of Chief Mechanical Engineer in South Western Railway (SWR) prior to his posting in Tinsukia NFR.
Prakash who belongs to the 1991 batch of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers (IRSME) had started his career with Railways in North Eastern Railways who had enriched himself with the experiences serving in various locations including Samastipur, Sonpur, Banaras, Izzatnagar among other divisions as Divisional Mechanical Engineer.
According to the PRO of the division, the newly posted top official of Tinsukia Division of NFR has also served in Charbagh Loco Workshop, Alambagh Diesel Shed, and Lucknow based Research Design & Standard Organisation therby contributing greatly in regard to development, adoption and absorption of new technology for use on Indian Railway, informed the official of Tinsukia Divisional Railway.
Earlier, Prakash also had served in the Chief Commissioner for Railway Safety Office as Deputy CRS. It may be added here that the safety Commission is one of the most pivotal wings of the Indian Railway that has to ensure that any new Railway line to be opened for passenger traffic should conform to the standards and specifications prescribed by the Ministry of Railways and the new line is safe in all respects for carrying of passenger traffic.
