BOKO: Newly-appointed Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Kailash Kartik N visited Assam's Lumpi area on Sunday.

People of the area welcomed him. He reached Lower Lumpi around 11.30 am and visited the Lower Lumpi Police outpost and BOP. After that, the DC held a meeting with the public. People of Lumpi area expressed their problems in front of the DC. The problems include drinking water supply, hospital, high school and land patta. According to the villagers, if the Assam Government gave them land pattas then Meghalaya would stop encroaching upon Assam's land.

The DC assured that he would solve the problems systematically. He also said that officials of both States were sitting for discussions to solve the border issues. The DC also added that the Meghalaya government had rejected the boundaries which were marked by the Survey of India.

After that, the DC visited the Mawlan area, around 8 km from Lower Lumpi, which has already been occupied by Meghalaya. During his visits, people of the Lumpi area showed him a big stone on the roadside at Mawlan where the Assam Government had marked the border with Meghalaya. Then the DC visited the Upper Lumpi area, Upper Lumpi border outpost and Makoibari area. Deputy Commissioner Kailash Kartik N's father, Kamrup ADC Gunajit Ray Choudhury, Rangia Subdivisional officer Swapnil Paul, Chief Executive Officer of Kamrup Zilla Parishad, Juri Doley and many other officials were also present.
