TINSUKIA: The newly-inducted minister Sanjay Kishan was accorded a grand welcome on his arrival at Tinsukia on Monday. The minister was greeted by jhumur dancers at Tinkunia point and escorted in a procession to the District Library Auditorium where a public felicitation programme was organized by Tinsukia district committee of BJP. More than 3,000 people gathered to welcome him amid cheers from BJP supporters. While various organizations belonging to the party’s committees and cells felicitated the minister, Suren Phukan, MLA of Digboi, Monoj Manki of Chah Morcha and Bhaben Baruah were present among others in the programme which was chaired by Lokheswar Moran, district BJP president.
In his brief address, Kishan, while thanking Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, said that he would serve the people and discharge his duties with utmost sincerity and dedication. He also thanked AASU for not resorting to any protest or black flag being displayed by the activists. The felicitation programme was moderated by Pulak Chetia, secretary Tinsukia district BJP.
