NAGAON: State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta ceremonially inaugurated the newly installed 22 beds containing Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Nagaon BP Civil Hospital on Saturday. Besides, the minister also inaugurated the special cell with 30 beds containing oxygen facilities in the same hospital.

While addressing the inaugural programme, Mahanta said the academic work of the proposed Nagaon Medical College Hospital which is being constructed at Mohkhuli on the outskirts of the town will be started in 2023-24 and Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phukanoni Civil Hospital will be shifted to Nagaon Mohkhuli following which the State government will convert the present Nagaon Civil Hospital to a cancer hospital. Referring to the seven new cancer hospitals being constructed by the State government, he said that almost all construction works of those seven new cancer hospitals are in a final stage and the government would inaugurate all those cancer hospitals in the month of April of the current year.

The minister was accompanied by local MLA Rupak Sarma and officials of district health services as well as other physicians of Nagaon Civil Hospital.
