NF Railway Cultural Association to perform Labhita in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The 26th edition of five-day long Natasurya drama festival has been organized by the Natasurya Memorial Celebration Committee in association with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, from December 12 to December 16 at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati.

On the evening of December 15, the NF Railway Cultural Association (NFRCA) will perform the famous drama Labhita by Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala. The drama has been directed by Chandrajit Saikia, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, NF Railway and the founder president of NFRCA. Padma Shri Nrityacharya Jatin Goswami, one of the most prominent faces of Assam's xattriya culture, will be present as guest of honour. Anshul Gupta, General Manager, NF Railway, will grace the occasion as chief guest. The evening will be further graced by the presence of the daughters of Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala – Jayshree Chaliha, Jnanashree Pathak and Satyashree Das.

Labhita written by Rupkonwar Jyotiprasad Agarwala dates back to 1947 and centres around the situation in Assam and the Northeast during the freedom movement and the second World War. The character Labhita is an extraordinary creation of the dramatist.

The members of NFRCA are those employees who are recruited by NF Railway through cultural quota. NFRCA represents NF Railway at various cultural programmes, theatres, drama etc., stated a press release.
