Haflong: The Chief General Manager (Tech), NHAI assured the NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum that the head office would surely approve Rs 49 crore for the maintenance of the Jatinga-Silchar road (package no. As-21) soon, informed David Keivom.
Keivom stated that the NC Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum (NCHISF) delegates and NHAI Regional Office officials had a discussion regarding maintenance of the Lumding-Silchar Road NH-54E (Package No. As-21 & As-22) at the office chamber of Sunil Jindal, Chief General Manager, (Tech).
After a long discussion, the CGM agreed to engage HCC Company to ensure the smooth plying of vehicles till the formal work order for the maintenance work was awarded to the contractor. He also informed the delegates that he would be leaving for Delhi for a meeting while assuring that the head office would surely approve Rs 49 crore for the maintenance of the Jatinga-Silchar road (Package no. As-21).
The CGM also appealed to the delegates to approach the government to allow the NHAI to issue work order for the maintenance of Maibang-Jatinga (Package No.22, amount Rs 20 crore), the tender process of which has already been completed.
NCHISF also submitted a memorandum to Chief General Manager, SBI head office, Guwahati requesting for opening a new SBI branch at Harangajao town and reiterated their demand for ATM at Mahur town. The NCHISF also called on Hiren Nath, IGP SB, at his office chamber and had a discussion on various issues of the district wherein he assured them that he would do whatever he could within his capacity.
