SILCHAR: Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' addressing the convocation of NIT Silchar through the virtual platform as a chief guest congratulated the passing out students and mentioned that the moment is one of the remarkable event in their life. It was a matter of pride and glory that NIT 'achieves 46th rank in NIRF 2020 which was an uplift of 5 position from the previous year. He expressed his happiness that NIT has secured prominent positions in the global ranking platform like THE ranking and US News ranking. He was all praise for NIT Silchar its academic excellence to lift the national in the international forums.

In this context Union Education Minister referred to the ancient Indian admired education system where scholars from across the globe travelled to our soil to learn in the universities like Nalanda, Takshila, Vikramshila among others. Keeping these models of higher education and learning in mind, our scholarly teachers and students cultivating value based education, India will place itself as the 'Vishwa Guru'.

Pokhriyal highlighted the various aspects of the new education policy-2020 which are going to be path breaking and will help students to grow and excel in all sectors of life. Under the New Education Policy, the Government is collaborating with top 100 universities/institutes globally in various dimensions. This will further enhance the quality of higher education.

The Union Education Minister revealed the initiation of national research fund and national technological forum under the leadership of the scientific advisor to prime minister will change the research and development scenario of the nation to a better, inclusive and excellent environment. The 3 pillars of NEP 2020 'reform', transform and perform will bring revolution in the education system of the nation and has all the ability to uphold our education system in global platform. He was of the view to build an Alumni Task Force for the betterment of the institute in an inclusive manner.

From AtalBihari Vajpayee's thrust on 'Jai Vigyan' to NarendraModi' s stress on 'Jai Anusandhan', there is all round transformation in the research and development growth of the country making strong and competitive taking it to a greater height, pointed out Pokhriyal. The vision of the NarendraModi Government and NEP 2020, "We are going to reclaim our glorious pride in education and research," he added to say.

The Union Education Minister at the same time spoke about the YUKTI .2 portal where all the institutes eminence of the country will share their views and technical know-how for the betterment of society. Various schemes of the government of india such as make in India, digital india and start up India are to provide adequate support and cooperation to the young talented resources of the nation to build a new India that is self reliant and empowered with wisdom and knowledge, Ramesh Pokhriyal summed up.
