DIBRUGARH: The 'no helmet, no fuel' rule has been imposed by the Dibrugarh district administration in the district as part of its efforts to prevent two-wheeler accident fatalities. As per the notification, no petrol pumps in the district shall sell petrol to any such two-wheeler rider who arrives at the petrol pump without a helmet.

Earlier a department-related standing committee (DRSC) meeting was held on March 11 where a district-level appraisal committee (DLAC) for 'Good Samaritan' was constituted which laid the ground for the implementation of the 'no helmet, no fuel' rule. The deputy commissioner-cum-district magistrate of Dibrugarh along with the Superintendent of Police, joint director of health services, and district transport officer are members of the committee.

"It has been notified that 'no helmet no fuel' policy is in force throughout the Dibrugarh district for strict implementation of the helmet law as per guidelines of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety. In this regard, necessary instructions have been issued to all oil depots not to sell petrol to anyone who does not wear helmets," the order said.
