MORIGAON: "Police are ready to make a strong chargesheet against the prime accused in the rape incident of Bhuragaon - Immam Sayed Ali alias Patha- in Morigaon district, after receiving the report of the DNA sample tested by the forensic laboratory today. The forensic report has proved that Sayed Ali alias Patha committed the heinous crime," said DGP Bhaskarjyoti Mahanta on social media.

On June 20, a 9-year old was brutally raped and killed at Bhuragaon. Her body was recovered from a jute field later. The biological specimen from the victim and the blood sample of the accused were sent to forensic laboratory for testing. The test report has shown a DNA match.

The DGP said, "After receiving the valid report of the DNA tests, police will be able to make a strong chargesheet against Patha and he will get exemplary punishment. He has no way to escape now that we have valid evidence against him."

"The 9-year minor went to collect blackberries for feeding her chick at around 5 am when Patha committed the heinous rape in the jute field. The minor was raped and murdered. In connection with the incident, Morigaon police had arrested the 65-year old prime accused Sayed Ali. Police fired on his leg immediately after he tried to flee from police custody on the way to the spot at Balidunga, Bhuragaon where he had committed the crime," said the DGP.
