North East Sustainable Development Goals Conclave (SDG)- 2020 concludes in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The three-day North East Sustainable Development Goals Conclave (SDG)- 2020 concluded on Wednesday at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati.

The final session of the conclave was chaired by K Moses Chalai, Secretary, North Eastern Council. In the final session, Samir Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary, Finance, Health & Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Assam, expressed his hope that this conclave will go a long way in shaping the future programs in achieving the sustainable development goals by the North-Eastern region. He also deliberated on steps and measures taken in order to achieve the goals in different sectors in the State. The Principal Secretary also expressed his appreciation for all the participants and NITI Aayog for the successful completion of the three-day Conclave in Guwahati, stated a press release.

Senior government representatives from different states of the North East also shared their views and recommendations at the valedictory session of the conclave. Kikheto Sema, Commissioner & Secretary, Govt. of Nagaland stressed on the need to sustain peace for achieving the sustainable goals in all sectors.

He also spoke on strengthening partnerships and cooperation among the North Eastern States for sustainable development with a special focus on agro-horticulture sector and agro-based industries. Sonam Lepcha, Secretary, Planning and Development, Govt. of Sikkim, deliberated on issues ranging from agriculture to women empowerment and also focused on the success of their State in organic cultivation.

Dr. C. Vanlalramsanga, Secretary, Planning, and Programme Implementation, Govt. of Mizoram underscored the need for collaboration and partnership in every level among the eight states of the North East in achieving the desired progress in sectors like agriculture, health, education, etc.
