LAKHIMPUR: The North Lakhimpur Press Club (NLPC) has once again vehemently condemned the alleged murder of Kakopothar journalist Parag Bhuyan and physical harassment by a group of anti-social people of Mirja on journalist Milan Mahanta.

Strongly reacting over both issues and the growing threat to the life of responsible working journalists, NLPC organized an urgent-cum-protest meeting at its office on the day of National Press Day on Monday. The meeting was presided over by NLPC working president KumudBaruah while secretary Karuna Krishna Nath explained the objectives of the programme.

The meeting took a number of crucial resolutions after holding detailed discussion over the issues. As per resolution adapted, NLPC has demanded the State Government to identify the culprits involved in the mysterious death of of Kakopothar journalist Parag Bhuyan immediately and to reward exemplary punishment to them. NLPC also demanded to arrest those anti-social people who were involved in harassing Mirja journalist Milan Mahanta. Regarding these issues, NLPC will submit a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur on Tuesday.

The NLPC further took resolution to boycott all kinds of government programmes and reporting government news until the accused people involved in the physical harassment on Milan Mahanta were arrested. In this connection, the NLPC members will stage protest against the incident by wearing black badges on Tuesday.
