Northeast Frontier Railway RPF Intensifies Crackdown on Ticket Touts, Seizing Tickets Worth Over Rs. 1.15 Lakhs

GUWAHATI: The RPF of Northeast Frontier Railway has been quite busy in conducting checks and drives throughout the zone to eradicate the malpractice of ticket touting. During December 2024, alone, the RPF caught hold of four ticket touts selling their illegal railway tickets. In the course of these checking, the RPF recovered 45 railway tickets, which included six live tickets and 39 used tickets, valued at more than Rs. 1.15 lakhs.

Recently, in an operation, the RPF CIB team of Katihar and the RPF team of Purnea together conducted a raid at 'Galib Computers' in Puranganj, Bihar, on December 22, 2024. The team recovered 20 e-tickets, out of which one was live ticket and 19 were used tickets, worth approximately Rs. 47,928.30, and apprehended one tout in connection with the case. A case was brought under Section 143 of the Railways Act at the RPF post, Purnea, for further action.

On 7 December 2024, during another drive, the CIB team of RPF/Lumding along with the RPF team of New Haflong apprehended one tout and recovered one railway ticket worth about Rs. 2,530. A case was lodged under Section 143 of the Railways Act at the RPF post in New Haflong for further action. The RPF of Northeast Frontier Railway is strictly keeping a close watch on unauthorized and illegal procurement of railway tickets and appeals to the passengers to travel with proper tickets to avoid trouble during train journeys.
