GUWAHATI: Under the "One Station One Product" initiative launched by Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the programme has gained phenomenal growth, as outlets are now operational at 142 stations across the region. The outlets are vibrant spaces that have been promoted for local artisans and vendors selling indigenous crafts. This has also generated significant economic opportunities.

Till the end of 2024, OSOP outlets are functioning under different divisions of NF Railway, out of which most are in Assam (79 stalls), followed by West Bengal (43), Bihar (13), Tripura (4), Arunachal Pradesh (2), and Nagaland (1). The scheme has enabled the display of a huge variety of local products, such as Assamese pithas, traditional Gamosas, indigenous dresses, bamboo and cane products, Darjeeling tea, and handmade jewelry.

OSOP is helping in the preservation of local heritage while empowering local artisans financially by providing sustainable livelihoods. The initiative offers the communities a platform to display their products, which strengthens the #Vocal4Local mission. It gives passengers the opportunity to buy authentic regional items during their train journeys.

The total OSOP outlets are providing an excellent resource in the strategy of uplifting local economies through NFR while attracting travelers towards the strong cultural tapestry of Northeast India. The whole initiative encouraging the livelihood of artisans is playing a crucial role in developing sustainable self-reliant economies for locals.
