Noted academician and sports organizer Alimuj Zaman passes away at 92

NAGAON: Alimuj Zaman, a prominent academician and sports organizer from Nagaon, breathed his last at his Guwahati residence on Tuesday due to old-age-related ailments. He was 92 years old.

Alimuj Zaman was a respected figure in the educational and sports circles in Nagaon. He served at the Nagaon Govt. Boys’ Higher Secondary School as a subject teacher for many years and retired as principal in 1993. He was awarded the national award for teachers for his tremendous contributions as well as dedication and commitment toward students’ welfare and promotion.

As a sports organizer, Alimuj Zaman was associated with the Nagaon Sports Association and served as its general secretary. He was also the assistant secretary of the Assam Football Association and a coach for Assam Badminton. Several organizations and individuals, including MLA Rupak Sarmah, MP Rakibul Hussain, and former minister Girindra Kumar Baruah, among others, expressed condolences on his demise.
