Noted Jhumur artiste and football referee Biswakarma Konwer passes away in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: Noted Jhumur artiste and a resident of Baghjan Dulia Basti on the outskirts of Amguri in Sivasagar district, Biswakarma Konwer passed away on Wednesday morning at his own residence. He was 72.

As an artiste pensioner of the Assam Government, Biswakarma was a popular artiste and performed jhumur dance across the State. He was a well known footballer and football referee. He was involved with Assam Unnati Sabha and held the post of assistant secretary of Sivasagar district committee. His sudden demise was widely mourned in the entire Amguri area.

Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika, ATTSA, AASU, Amguri Regional Unit, AASU, Sivasagar District Committee, Assam Unnati Sabha, Asom Sena, Sivasagar District Sports Association, Amguri Sports Association, Sivasagar District Football Referee Association, Chaoutali Unnayan Samaj, Chah Mazdur Songha,Chah Karmachari Sangha, Baghjan Sports Club, Borbam TE among various organizations, individuals have condoled the demise of Bishwakarma Konwer. He is survived by his wife, a son, two married daughters and a host of relatives.
