Noted social worker Jadav Thakur passes away in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR: Noted and popular social worker of Sivasagar, Jadav Thakur passed away on Tuesday at his residence at Ganakpatty in Sivasagar town. Thakur was suffering from old-age ailments. He was 91 and is survived by his wife, two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives.

A retired teacher of Thanuram Gogoi Memorial HS School, Sivasagar, Jadav Thakur was involved with various social and cultural organizations. He was vice-president (in-charge) and adviser of Sibsagar Natya Samaj and was also involved with Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha Smriti Rakhya Samiti as an adviser. Many organizations, including Sibsagar Natya Samaj, Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha Smriti Rakhya Samiti, Thanuram Gogoi Memorial HS School and Sri Sri Nava Durgutsav Puja Committee condoled his demise. Rich tribute was paid to him at a tribute-paying ceremony organized by social worker Saurav Chaliha. His body was cremated at Thanamukh crematorium on Wednesday.
