NRC Assam: Awareness Meet on NRC Final List held at Jorhat

JORHAT: An awareness meeting regarding the publication of NRC final list on Saturday was held in which the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat Roshni Aparanji Korati explained what people should do or not do. In his briefing to the press, he tried to inform the people of the district about how they could search their names in the list to be published and at the same time urged the media and the people not to pay any heed to the rumours which could be spread by anti-social elements to create undue advantage or trouble.

The DC said that even if anybody’s name gets dropped or is not available in the list, further enquiries could be made at 30 different places which will be organized by Foreigner Tribunal like places in Koliapani, Kakojan, Chenijan, Sadar Tin Ali, Kenduguri Bypass, Dhapkota, Chraibahi, Deberapara, Mariani, etc. While a total of 15405 State government employees are engaged in the NRC process for the district, as per verification being done, nobody will be declared foreigner as the District Legal Authority is always beside any person to get a helping hand, and NRC-DC Control Room Phone No-03762300124 and NRC-Police Control Room 0375-2320018 can be contacted. Moreover, a total of 5 companies of para-military forces along with three Assam Police battalion are on duty to look into the law and order situation, informed the Deputy Commissioner, Jorhat here on Friday.
