NRC: ‘Exclusion’ of Names of Indigenous Muslims Decried

A Correspondent

MORIGAON: The Morigaon Goria-Moria Desi Jatiya Parishad has demanded the government to include the names of indigenous Muslims left out from the final NRC without sending their names to Foreigners Tribunals and also demanded to give them constitutional safeguard.

An executive meeting was called by president Ibadul Ali of the district committee of the organization in Morigaon on Sunday. The organization said that if indigenous Muslims, despite being a part and parcel of the Assamese society, had to go to Foreigners Tribunal to prove themselves as Indians, it would be unfortunate. The organization threatened to launch agitation if the government failed to fulfil these demands.
