NSD organized drama workshop kicks off in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: A month-long drama workshop organized under the auspices of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi kicked off on Monday in Lakhimpur. The event has been organized at Mothouhhur near Garchiga under Telahi Development Block of the district with a view to popularize theatrical practice and to create responsible theatrical talents and artists in the tribal stricken areas as a part of NSD’s nationwide initiative.

In the workshop, nationally acclaimed actress Bhagirathi has taken part as the program director and coach along with Baharul Islam who will also extend theatrical coaching. In addition to him, another 10 NSDians, including Pabitra Rabha, Niranjan Nath, Arundhati Kalita, Biplav Borkotoky, Rajib Kalita and Bhaskar have taken part as trainers while Gunamoni Baruah is the assistant program director.

The inaugural session of the workshop was held on Tuesday in the presence of Lakhimpur District Xahitya Xabha former president Niran Kumar Borah, co-ordinators Abhijit Payeng and Utpal Pogag and the local theatre personalities.

In the workshop, coaching will be conducted on the physical practice, skills of dialogue delivery, tone modulation and circulation, make-up, get-up, mask designing and the neo-trends of drama every day during the next 30 days. After the completion of the training, a drama will be staged with the participation of the trainees.
