TINSUKIA: After nine defence personnel, along with 16 other people, tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday and Tuesday, the number of positive cases in Tinsukia district has risen to 291.

The nine defence personnel quarantined at TCP Lekhapani have been identified as Bijoy Kumar (28), Iswar Singh Rathore (34), Sunil Kumar (37), Rakesh Kr Dusodta (36), Ranja Singh (24), Balwat Singh (45), Arucm (30), Anup Singh (33) and Jaydeep Kumar (30). All of them were admitted to the Military Hospital at Dinjan.

The others have been identified as Nakul Baruah (28), Dipen Baruah (30) of Hahkhati Kakopathar, Ankit Jain (26) Manab Kalyan near Namghar, Priya Jaiswal (25) Pengeree, Sankar Kr Sahani (24) Chirwa patty, Tinsukia, Kunti Devi (54) Chadmari Makum and Chandra Lal Tinsina (29) of Shantipur Sadiya, Pancho Chetry (33), Ikbal Hussain (25), Aftab Ansari (24), Altaf Ansari, Afsana Begum (24), Hazira Begum (35), Farha Begum (35), Suman Sarkar (30) and Ayan Bora (22). They were quarantined at Ledo Community Hall, Marwari Bibah Bhavan, Margherita, Hotel Royal Highness, Hotel Nandan and Hotel Royal Inn in Tinsukia.
