Number of COVID-19 cases reaches 2,190 in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: A total of 130 new COVID-19 patients were detected in Lakhimpur on Thursday and Friday. Of them, 79 patents were detected on Thursday while 51 patients were reported on Friday till the time of filing this report. Out of them, 10 patients were detected positive as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result while rest 120 patients were found positive through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). The District Health Department launched a massive screening drive by conducting RAT across the district on Thursday and Friday too. As a part of the drive, RAT was conducted at Panigaon PHC, Naoboicha, Bihpuriya, Dhalpur and Dhakuakhana BPHCs in order to detect the asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. Eight police personnel were found positive at Bihpuriya on Friday through RAT. With these newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases in the district spiked to 2,190. Of them, 1,235 patients have been discharged while 955 are active cases.
