Bishnu Baruah

Noted social worker and former secretary of the Kawoimari Gaon Panchayat, Konwarpur under Sivasagar district, Bishnu Baruah breathed his last on July 30. He was 85. Bishnu Baruah was also the working president of the Sivasagar District Mukti Jujaru Sanmilany and president of the Shantipur ME School governing body. Baruah had donated his land to build a naamghar as well as a local LP school. He also worked selflessly for the development of the Shantipur, Konwarpur and West Sivasagar area. Baruah leaves behind his wife, a son and a host of relatives. His demise was mourned by all.

Ajit Baruah

Senior Assam Police Additional Superintendent and the Assistant Commandant of the 25th APBN, Ligiri Pukhuri of Nazira under Sivasagar district, Ajit Baruah (57) breathed his last at Guwal Gaon, Dikhowmukh in Sivasagar. He passed the APS examination in 1982 and joined as DSP in Assam Police. Besides being a brave and sincere cop, Baruah was also associated with many cultural and sports associations of Sivasagar and Nazira. He leaves behind his wife, two sons and a daughter.
