OBITUARY: Bhadreswar Kalita

Bhadreswar Kalita, a resident of Gaurisagar Namdang Kumar village in Sivasagar , noted social worker and the first graduate of the village, passed away on July 29 due to old-age ailment. He was 87.

He did his graduation in Arts from Sibsagar College in 1957 and joined as teacher in Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute. Later, he joined in Assam Cooperative department and got superannuation in 1992 as Sub-Registrar. He was closely associated with various organizations. He held the post of president of managing committee, Gaurisagar Higher Secondary Industrial Institute (HSII), Gaurisagar Central Public Hall. Besides, he was the president of the golden jubilee celebration committee of Gaurisagar HSII.

For his sincere work, he was awarded bronze medal by the President of India for showing excellence during the 1971 census. His demise was widely mourned in the entire Gaurisagar area. He is survived by two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives.
