Office of Legal Metrology, Nagaon realises revenue of Rs 83.71 lakh

NAGAON: Along with the rest of the country, the Office of the Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology, Nagaon also observed the 'All India Weight and Measurement Week' at Nagaon from December 28 to January 3, 2023. During the week, with a view to make people aware of consumer act and other precautionary measures about weight and measurement while purchasing things or other items from the market, the officials as well as other employees of the department concerned distributed leaflets among various consumers at various markets as well as other daily and weekly markets in Nagaon, Hojai and Morigaon districts..
Besides, the officials and other employees of the Office of Legal Metrology, Nagaon also organized road shows and other sensitisation programmes at various places as well as markets like Haibargaon Bazar, Borbazar, Kadamtol, Singari, Rupahihat, Juria bazar, Doomdoomia, Saidoria, Hojai, Doboka, Lanka, Neel Bagan, Aambagan, Morigaon, Monoha, Ahotguri, Doloichuba etc, an official press release added.
In the prese note, Indrajeet Bayon, assistant controller of legal metrology, Nagaon stated that the officials from the office of the Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology, Nagaon, registered over 129 cases during 2021 and till December, 2022 in three middle Assam districts - Nagaon, Hojai and Morigaon and also realised government revenue of Rs 83,71,563.00 lakhs among which the department concerned realised Rs 76,56, 563.00 as verification and stamping fees while Rs 7,15,000.00 had been realised as compounding fees by the same.
