Oil Theft Gang Busted in Digboi, Security Forces Resort to Firing

GUWAHATI: On Tuesday 02 November, security forces resorted to firing while a group of miscreants were trying to steal condensate oil from the oil pipe inside the forest of Saraipung under Digboi forest division of Oil India Limited (OIL).

According to reports, the police surprisingly recovered eighty litres of condensate oil along with four bikes in the spot of stealing oil.

The police said that when they were on their duty during the night hours they saw some people inside the jungle though they could not identify the people. The miscreants were on bikes inside the dense forest and on seeing the guards they immediately fled away towards the forest leaving their bikes.

According to sources, the thefts were stealing the oil from the pipeline illegally using valves through the pipes. Police after the incident have the suspect that those miscreants might have a connection with the security guards of Oil India Limited. Investigation on the matter has been taken forward by the police officials.

Earlier in the month of July this year, another oil theft racket was busted by Digboi Police while the group of crude oil theft was stealing oil directly from collecting centers at Lankachi. Police arrested the nine members of that oil theft group.
