GUWAHATI: The Assam Legislative Assembly Digital TV was officially launched in the central hall of the Assembly on Friday by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The Guard of Honour saluted the Lok Sabha speaker.

Om Birla recalled Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi, B.R. Ambedkar, and Bhupen Hazarika as he inaugurated the Digital TV at the Assam Assembly. "The Indian Constitution was adopted by the majority of countries. The Assembly is well-known for its public-benefit efforts. "India is a democratic country, and it is the obligation of every MLA and Minister to respect democracy," added Birla.

He went on to explain that all Assembly members are representatives of the people, and it is the MLAs' responsibility to raise the Assembly's attention to the people's issues. Resolving public concerns should also be the responsibility of the people's representative. Pratidin Time's Achiever Awards, which will be held today at Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra, will also include the Speaker as the Chief Guest. Before going to Delhi, he will visit Kamakhya Temple.

Birla emphasised that in India, democracy is a way of life, and he urged political party leaders to work toward the development of democracy and democratic institutions.

At a press conference, Speaker of the House John Boehner emphasised that the smooth functioning of the House is the responsibility of all participants and that the House must be controlled in accordance with the collective will and consensus.

In response to political parties' conflicting perspectives on a range of issues, Birla argued that disputes are unavoidable in a healthy democracy, but they must be expressed constructively. He advised members of the House of Representatives not to utilise disruptive tactics in the chamber.

The Lok Sabha had 18 sittings during the winter session of parliament, he noted, and the House sat for 83 hours and 20 minutes. The Lok Sabha lost 18 hours and 48 minutes due to interruptions.

The House was 82% productive during the session. Productivity was 102 percent throughout the first seven sittings of the session. The House's performance on December 2, 2021, according to Birla, was 204 percent. The Lok Sabha Speaker went on to say that 12 bills were introduced and nine bills were passed during the session. According to Birla, 91 starred questions out of 360 were addressed orally in the House during the Session. Answers to 4,140 unstarred questions were strewn about the House table.

The Speaker stated that on December 20, all of the day's 20 starred questions were addressed. In addition, 380 items of public importance were given under Rule 377. Birla praised members' use of technology, noting that 94.68 percent of e-notices were received, up from 93.5 percent the previous session.
