During his upcoming visit to Assam on September 8, which coincides with the birth anniversary of "Sudhakantha" Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the groundwork for a number of massive infrastructure projects, such as the Guwahati ring road, the Darrang medical college, and a bridge that spans the Brahmaputra and connects Kuruwa in Darrang and Narengi in Guwahati. The combined value of these projects is Rs 8,000 crore. At a public gathering at the Government Sericulture Farm in Kamarpara, close to Mangaldai, Modi is probably going to conduct the formal opening of these projects.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma made this announcement to the media in Mangaldai on Saturday during his unexpected visit to the public meeting's proposed location, where over 146 bighas of land have already been set aside for the proposed 430-bed medical college, which is expected to be built at a cost of Rs 572 crore.
Around 5 p.m., the Chief Minister visited the location with Dilip Saikia, MP and current State BJP president, MLAs Dr. Paramananda Rajbongshi, Basanta Das, and Diganta Kalita, former MLA Gurujyoti Das, and high-ranking representatives from the Darrang district administration and the State PWD.
Speaking to reporters, Sarma stated that the location for the planned public event that the prime minister would be attending is virtually certain based on the PWD's feasibility study. The Prime Minister will make his maiden trip to Numaligarh on that day. After that, he would go to Mangaldai to speak at a public gathering before departing to Guwahati to attend Bhupenda's birth anniversary celebration, the Chief Minister stated.
