One arrested in connection with the suicide of 65-yr old man in Tezpur

TEZPUR: Tezpur Police arrested a person in connection with the incident of the suicide of 65-year-old Bhabendra Nath Tamuli, a resident of Murhateteli under Tezpur Police Station on Thursday. According to police, the arrested has been identified as Parag Both.
A long letter was apparently written by the deceased and addressed to the Chief Minister and the Sonitpur Deputy Commissioner. It was recovered from the house of the victim.
As per the content of this letter, the deceased had a plot of land at Baroholia, Tezpur. Lat Mandal Parag Borah and some other persons had taken Rs 2 lakh for getting the namjari of the said land. However, later on he came to know that the above named persons had used illegal means to register the said land. He discussed the matter with Parag Borah who then denied and questioned the deceased's mental fitness. In this regard he had mentioned about committing suicide through this letter as he had no other option and this act had brought bad reputation to his family.
As per the statements of the family members, the deceased was under depression for the last few days and his mental state was not sound as he was afraid of losing his land. The accused Parag Borah was also detained and examined but he refused the allegations. As no FIR was lodged by the family members of the deceased, police registered a suo moto case vide Tezpur PS case no 2450/21 u/s 306 IPC. Further investigation is going on.
