BAKSA: Sensation prevailed after a person was killed by a wild elephant in Anthaibari village along the Indo-Bhutan border in Tamulpur subdivision of Baksa district. The deceased has been identified as Kaje Wary (55) from Anthaibari.

A herd of wild elephants that came down the foot hills in search of food, has been moving along the border since the last few days. An isolated wild elephant attacked Kaje Wary who had gone to fetch water. Kaje was critically injured in the attack by the wild elephant.

Family members received information of the attack on Kaje and he was brought to Kumarikata state dispensary with the help of locals. Critically injured Kaje was sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition after providing primary treatment. But unfortunately, Kaje died at GMCH while undergoing treatment. Postmortem was conducted at GMCH and the body was taken to Anthaibari village.
