BONGAIGAON: Total 13,584 people from Chirang district has so far been affected by flood. Gagan Narzary, DIPRO Chirang, said that among these, about 12,000 are from Bijni Revenue Circle and 1,584 from Sidli revenue circle. "Total 9 rescue camps have been opened where 1,150 inmates are taking shelter. SDRF personnel rescued 51 persons from Choto Amguri and No.2 Sarapet village. Petrus Pahan of village Aminpara is reported to have drowned on Friday evening in a canal linked to Chapamati River under Bengtol Revenue Circle. Search operation is going on by SDRF," he said. He added that total 5,320 animals had been affected. "No human life has been lost as yet," he said.
