One killed in road mishap in Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: Noren Gogoi, a Grade IV employee of District Fishery Development Office, Sivasagar, who is a resident of Chintamoigarh Nowboisa village, died in a road accident on Saturday morning that took place on AT Road near Bhatiapar on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district.

According to report, Gogoi was travelling towards home from Sivasagar on his Scooty bearing registration no AS-04-T-3084. Suddenly Gogoi hit a Mahindra pick-up van bearing registration no AS-O3-CC-0191 coming from the same direction near the Sati Sadhani Park of Bhatiapar. The pick-up van ran over him and he died on the spot. After the accident, the driver of the van fled away. Local people immediately informed Joysagar Police Outpost. Jyotish Phukan, Officer in-charge of the outpost, immediately rushed to the spot and sent the body to Sibsagar Civil Hospital for postmortem and seized the van.
