One killed, one injured in a road accident at Baksa district

BAKSA: One person was killed in a road accident in Laupara on Wednesday evening. The deceased has been identified as Shiva Das (62) of village Laupara under Tamulpur police station in Baksa district. Shiva was sitting on the side of the road in front of his house on the Tamulpur-Nagrijuli-Udalguri road at that time. A bike heading towards Tamulpur from Laupara lost control and hit Shiva. The bike overturned on the road. Shiva was seriously injured in the accident and biker Louis Hasda was also seriously injured. Luis's wife and one of his children, who on the bike, were also slightly injured.

A police team led by Officer-in-charge of Nagrijuli police outpost, Manoj Das immediately rushed to the spot and brought the seriously injured Shiva Das and Louis to Tamulpur Primary Health Centre with the help of locals. Shiva Das died during treatment at Tamilpur Primary Health Centre. Louis's condition is said to be critical. Police sent the body to Muslimpur for postmortem on Thursday. The Nagrijuli police are investigating the incident.
