BAKSA: A youth was killed and three other youths critically injured in a road accident at Nagrijuli under Tamulpur Police Station in Baksa district around 12.15 pm on Sunday night.

The accident took place when a Maruti Swift vehicle had a head-on collision with a bike at the Omar Chowk on the Tamulpur-Nagrijuli-Udalguri link road.

Sources informed that the Maruti Swift vehicle (AS-13-L-9222) was proceeding towards Nagrijuli from Udalguri while the TVS Apache motorcycle (without number plate) was proceeding towards Dimakuchi from Nagrijuli.

Following the accident, Bijla Kerkata (21), son of Rumsu Kerkata of Budlapara village under Dimakuchi police station in Udalguri district, was killed on the spot. On the other hand, Anjan Minj (21), Pitai Topno (20) of Dimakuchi area and Uddhav Deka (32), son of Deben Deka of village

Christianpara under Paneri Police Station in Udalguri district, were critically injured in the accident.

A few Forest department personnel on duty at Omar Chowk witnessed the accident and reported the incident to the Nagrijuli police outpost at night. A police team from Nagrijuli police outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body. They also rescued the injured youths and rushed them to Nagrijuli Model Hospital. After providing primary treatment, the injured youths were sent to Gauhati Medical College & Hospital for better treatment.

Uddhav Deka is said to be in a more critical condition among the injured. The Nagrijuli police have seized the vehicles and are investigating the incident.
