LAKHIMPUR: One more person succumbed to COVID-19 in Lakhimpur district in the last 24 hours. He has been identified as Ognidhar Upadhyaya (70), resident of Bihpuria. He breathed his last at Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.

On the other hand, a total of 213 fresh cases were detected in the district in the last two days. Out of them 104 cases were detected on Wednesday as per the results of the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test. Of them 102 people of were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per RAT while two cases were detected as per RTPCR Test. On this day, the District Health Department conducted the RAT upon 2,701 persons in eight COVID-19 Test Centres across the district. Out of them, the detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (3), Dhalpur BPHC (8), Bihpuriya BPHC (11), Naoboicha BPHC (8), Boginadi BPHC (30), Ghilamora BPHC (3), Dhakuakhana BPHC (3), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (27) and Private Nursing Homes (9). On this day, the Health Department of the district registered 77 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure 3,430.

On the other hand, a total of 109 COVID-19 cases, 98 cases as per RAT and 11 cases as per RTPCR Test, were detected in the district on Thursday. These cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (7), Dhalpur BPHC (7), Bihpuriya BPHC (15), Naoboicha BPHC (12), Boginadi BPHC (26), Dhakuakhana BPHC (6), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (23) and Private Nursing Homes (2). On this day, altogether 1,879 people across the district underwent RAT registering only 59 per cent achievement of conducting the same.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has surged to 11,815 since April 4 of the last year. Out of them, 10,382 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 1,327 are active cases at present. On Thursday, 37 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 57 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation. A total of 3,770 people of the district tested positive for COVID-19 during the second wave of the contagion since April 1 of the current year. Out of them, 47 people succumbed to the pandemic raising the overall tally of the COVID-19 fatalities of the district up to 106.
