KOKRAJHAR: One person, identified as Berlang Brahma (70) of No 2 Murabari under Salakati PS in Kokrajhar, was trampled to dead by wild elephants on Friday morning at around 9 am.

Sources from Murabari village said that two wild elephants from Chirang reserve forest came to Murabari area possibly at night in search of food. The villagers were gripped with fear. The wild elephants attacked Belbung Brahma who was declared dead at RN Brahma Brahma Civil Hospital, Kokrajhar.

The forest officials were trying to tranquilize the elephant till the filling of this report. Meanwhile, local MLA Jayanta Basumatary visited the bereaved family and the village to take stock of the situation.

Recently a black wild bear came to the human inhabited area in Kachugaon along Raimana National Park. As many as seven persons were injured in the attack.
