A CORRESPONDENT

GAURISAGAR: ONGC Assam Asset, led by Sanjeev Kakran, Executive Director and Asset Manager, reiterated the need to ban single-use plastics in the operational areas of the Asset on the occasion of the valedictory function of Swachhta Pakhwada observed from August 16 to August 31.

An action plan will be formulated to ban the use of single-use plastics and an intensive ‘No plastic campaign’ will be undertaken soon, he said. Plastic is one of the major causes of cancer, he added. Children of DPS performed a skit on the ill-effects of plastic on human beings and the environment. They also urged the gathering to pledge for drastically reducing plastic use in everyday life to save Planet Earth.

Earlier during the fortnight, several awareness programmes were conducted and Swachhta projects were inaugurated. ONGC also took up the Swachhta Initiative and signed MoU with Eureka Forbes Institute of Environment, Mumbai for providing safe drinking water facility in 18 schools in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
