Tezpur: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), Tezpur University (TU) along with Malviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) started a six-day course on Developing Online Courses and Programs from Monday.
The unique programme is specifically designed to equip educators, instructional designers, and academic professionals with the essential skills and knowledge required to create effective, engaging, and accessible online learning experiences.
Inaugurating the programme, Prof Shambhu Nath Singh, Vice Chancellor of the University said that in the last decade, online education & massive open online courses (MOOCs) have emerged as a powerful tool for democratizing education.
“As our country is observing transformative changes in our education system, online education with features like accessibility, flexibility, quality and ability to accommodate a large number of participants will offer learners diverse and inclusive opportunities,” Prof Shambhu Nath Singh said.
Delivering the keynote address online, Prof CB Sharma, Former chairperson of the National Institute of Open Schooling and currently serving as Professor of Education at the School of Education, IGNOU talked of key principles of success of an online education. “It depends on the quality of the courses we design, the variety of resources we use and the multi-sensory inputs we provide which can make the online course engaging for learners,” Prof Sharma said.
Special invited guest, Dr. Basheerhamad Shadrach, Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia discussed emerging trends and innovations in online learning.
Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, Director of the CDOE and MMTTC briefed about the programme. He hoped that the programme shall enable the participants to develop high-quality online courses.
