Online Faculty Development Programme concludes in Dibrugarh University

DIBRUGARH: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy sponsored online Faculty Development Programme (FDP), was organized by the Department of Petroleum Engineering, DUIET, Dibrugarh University (DU) recently.

The ATAL Academy, under the aegis of AICTE, conducts various Faculty Development Programmes to impart and upgrade faculty knowledge and skills. In 2021-22, AICTE has planned 1,500 online FDPs in various emerging areas which aim to benefit over one lakh participants. The AICTE on September 20 virtually inaugurated 72 online ATAL Academy FDPs in the presence of chief guest Prof Alok Kumar Chakrawal, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. Prof. Rajiv Kumar, Member Secretary, AICTE graced the inaugural function as a guest of honour.

The theme of the 5-day online FDP organized by the Department of Petroleum Engineering, DUIET, Dibrugarh University was 'Advances in Petroleum Exploration', co-ordinated by Prasun Banik, Assistant Professor of the department. The inaugural ceremony was conducted virtually. Prof. L.K. Nath, Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, was the chief guest and Dr Mukul Chandra Bora, Director of Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology, chaired the session. LK Nath in his address had detailed the importance of such kind of programmes to impart practical knowledge among academicians and also strengthen the industry academia bonding.

The FDP comprised 14 sessions addressed by the eminent professors of academic institutions, industry experts, and inspirational speakers. Each of the speakers shared their knowledge and expertise on a variety of topics related to the petroleum exploration techniques and recent developments. The participants, mostly faculty and research scholars of various institutions, from all across the country from diverse disciplines including petroleum, mechanical, chemical, geology, chemistry, mining, energy, physics and remote sensing attended the FDP.
