Only art and culture can bring peace and tranquillity: Deep Jyoti Kakati

LAKHIMPUR: Sanko, a drama school, was inaugurated at Sonari Chapori under Dhakuakhana subdivision of Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. On this occasion a ceremonial programme was organized in the Sonari Chapori Kristi Bhavan campus in a befitting manner. The programme started with the lighting of ceremonial lamps and a creative dance item performed under the management of Ajay Pegu, Nayanmoni Pegu, and Noni Krishnaa Baruah. The open session organized on this occasion was inaugurated by State Cine Award winner actor Deep Jyoti Kakati.

“The entire nation is now boiling over sensitive issues. Only art and culture can usher in coordination and bring peace and tranquillity among the people who have been divided and discriminated by various political philosophies and conflict in ideologies,” he said while delivering the inaugural lecture.

Assistant professor of Kherkotia College, Majuli Tolan Chetia took part in the programme as an appointed speaker while mime actor Edison Deory, Mising cine actors Chandan Pegu and Phiroj Pegu were guests of honour. A host of children presented various cultural events in the programme wherein a galaxy of prominent personalities of the subdivision was present. Coaching related to drama and acting will be conducted in the school.
