Orchid conservation centre opened in Doomdooma
An orchid house was inaugurated by the acting principal of Doomdooma College Dr Amarjit Saikia on Saturday under the supervision of Khanjit Gogoi, an international orchid expert.

DOOMDOOMA: An orchid house was inaugurated by the acting principal of Doomdooma College Dr Amarjit Saikia on Saturday under the supervision of Khanjit Gogoi, an international orchid expert. The principal inaugurated the house and hoped that the students would get research opportunities from the orchids to be preserved here. The house was started in collaboration with the Department of Botany of the college. The head of the department, Manoj Dutta, hoped that the society would realize the importance of these plants in the area through the orchids. The plant will be developed as a small research plant. The event was attended by Dr. Rumi Khaleng, president of Women's Cell of Assam College Teachers Association (ACTA), Dr. Deepak Mohanta, Dr. Anjan Shaikia and other staff of the college.
